What's a PWA?

A progressive web app (PWA) is a website that can be installed on your device like a regular app. It gets its own icon on your home screen, opens in its own window, and works offline.

The best part? No app store, no downloads, no account required. You're installing a single web page that runs entirely on your device.

You can try any of our apps right on their page before installing. If you like it, follow the steps below to add it to your home screen.

iPhone & iPad (Safari)

PWAs must be installed using Safari on iOS/iPadOS. Other browsers like Chrome don't support this feature on Apple devices.

1

Open the app page in Safari

Navigate to the app you want to install on iceroadapps.com using Safari.

2

Tap the Share button

Tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up).

3

Tap "Add to Home Screen"

Scroll down in the share menu and tap "Add to Home Screen." You may need to scroll down to find it.

4

Tap "Add"

Confirm the name and tap "Add" in the top-right corner.

The app will appear on your home screen with its own icon. Tap it to open — it runs in its own window, just like a regular app.

Android (Chrome)

Works with Chrome, Edge, and most Android browsers.

1

Open the app page in Chrome

Navigate to the app you want to install on iceroadapps.com.

2

Tap the menu (three dots)

Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of Chrome.

3

Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"

The wording varies by device. Look for "Add to Home screen," "Install app," or "Install."

4

Confirm

Tap "Add" or "Install" to confirm.

The app will appear on your home screen. Some Android devices will also show it in your app drawer.

Desktop (Chrome or Edge)

Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux with Chrome or Edge.

1

Open the app page

Navigate to the app you want to install on iceroadapps.com.

2

Look for the install icon

In Chrome, look for the install icon (a monitor with a down arrow) in the address bar on the right side. In Edge, look for a similar icon or go to the menu and select "Apps" → "Install this site as an app."

3

Click "Install"

Confirm the installation when prompted.

The app opens in its own window and can be found in your Start menu (Windows), Launchpad (Mac), or applications menu (Linux).

Versions & Updates

Every Ice Road App uses versioned filenames so you always know exactly what you have.

?

How do I check my version?

Open the app and look in the settings or about screen. The version number is displayed there (e.g., "Note Catcher v1.1").

How do I update?

Visit the app's page on iceroadapps.com and check the current version. If there's a newer version than what you have, add it to your home screen using the steps above. Each version has its own file, so the new one installs alongside the old one — nothing gets overwritten.

2x

Side-by-side installs

Because each version has a unique filename (e.g., note-catcher-v1.0.html, note-catcher-v1.1.html), you can install multiple versions on your device at the same time. This means you can try the new version, make sure you're happy with it, and then remove the old one when you're ready. No pressure, no surprises.

Changelog

Every app has a changelog built right into the file — tap "View Changelog" in the app's settings to see the full history of changes. The same changelog is also listed on each app's page on this website so you can review before updating.

Previous versions

We keep all previous versions available for download on each app's page. If a new version doesn't work the way you expected, you can always go back to the one you were using before.

You're always in control. Check your version, compare to what's current, try the new one side by side, and switch when you're ready.

Common Questions

Do I need an internet connection to use the app?

No. Once you've visited the app page, it works completely offline. You can even turn on airplane mode to verify — the app keeps working because everything runs locally on your device.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser's localStorage, which means it stays on your device. It's never sent anywhere. If you clear your browser data, your app data will be cleared too.

Can I move my data to a new device?

Not automatically — since the data never leaves your device, there's no sync feature. This is a tradeoff of our zero-tracking approach.

How do I uninstall?

Same as any app. On iPhone/iPad, long-press the icon and tap "Remove App." On Android, long-press and drag to "Uninstall." On desktop, right-click the app in your taskbar or applications and choose "Uninstall."
